X-Men leader Cyclops gets his first solo series in a decade

The new book was announced at New York Comic Con 2025 as Marvel Comics unveiled the new range of X-Men comics coming in the new year

We know that good things come to those who wait, but sometimes people should be a little less patient. For the first time in over a year, the iconic leader of the X-Men, Cyclops, is getting his own limited series to star in. As announced at New York Comic Con, one of the most famous members of the X-Men will get a chance to shine on his own in 2026.

If you followed along with our liveblog of the Marvel Comics: X-Men panel at NYCC 2025, you already heard that Cyclops is getting his own limited series. The first issue is set to be released in February 2026 and is written by Alex Paknadel. Roge Antonio is the artist on the new series and Federico Vincentini is drawing the cover, which you can see below.

There are a lot of details still not confirmed here. We don’t know much about the plot, nor do we know how many issues the limited series will end up being. We do know that it is the first series to star Cyclops since the previous series that ran between 2014 and 2015. That means that it has been more than a decade since the leader of the X-Men has had the chance to prove he’s worthy of leading his own series.

Although he’s been a mainstay in X-Men, both in the comics and various adaptations over the years, Cyclops often gets overshadowed by the likes of Wolverine, who has been the breakout star of the team for decades. Cyclops’ 2025 series is a chance to show who the real leader of the X-Men is.
