What if you could step inside someone else’s life, and feel the highs and lows of their world without any of the risk? That’s one of the core questions asked by Boom! Studios’ upcoming sci-fi series Vicarious — and it’s one that Popverse is willing to help you get started answering, thanks to a sneak peek at the first issue ahead of its release next month.
Boom! describes the series like this: “Justin is your average 20-something burnout–no real connections with anyone or prospects on his horizon. But, after a dangerous encounter reveals itself as a fortuitous opportunity, Justin finds just what his life has been missing in the secret world of Proxies–young, attractive, ambitious hustlers like himself who allow the rich access to their feelings and experiences through a cutting edge technological implant. Does Justin have what it takes to make it in this seductive new world?”
Somehow, we expect the answer to that last question to be somewhat complicated, because otherwise this will be a very short question.
Vicarious comes from Ryan Parrott (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Eleonora Carlini (Go Go Power Rangers), colorist Mattia Iacono (The Dead Lucky) with color assistance by Luca Mattioni, and letterer Becca Carey, launches this October with a first issue featuring covers from Dan Panosian, Reiko Murakami, and Rebeca Puebla — but you don’t have to wait a month to enjoy it; we’ve got an exclusive preview in the gallery below.
