It’s almost time for fans to return to Alfea, the magic school from the Otherworld — or, at least, what remains of it. Next month, Mad Cave Studios and Rainbow Group release Fate: The Winx Saga Vol. 2: The Shadow War, bringing danger, magic, and more to the audience that’s been eagerly waiting for the next installment in the series.

The YA graphic novel isn’t just an expansion of the fan-favorite Winx Club, which Mad Cave and Rainbow Group have been publishing new material for since 2024; it’s also a continuation of the cult Netflix series Fate: The Winx Saga, which ran for two seasons from January 2021 through September 2022… and one that ups the ante from everything that’s come before.

Here’s the publisher’s description of the book: “The magical school of Alfea all but destroyed, its fractured remnants defended by the brave fairies and specialists who remain--even in the wake of heartbreaking loss. The roommates of the Winx Suite have been hit the hardest. Stella has fallen to the darkness and leads an army against her former friends. Aisha, Musa, Flora and Sky must come up with a plan to push back the shadows that threaten to overrun their world... Meanwhile, Bloom puts everything on the line to redeem herself to those she holds most dear.”

“I am incredibly proud of these books and all of the amazing work that has gone into bringing my crazy ideas to life. Yes, I have made some big, bold choices in terms of the storytelling, and I will continue to as long as the stellar team at [Mad Cave Studios YA imprint] Maverick sees fit to keep Fate: Winx in my hands,” announced writer Olivia Cuartero-Briggs in a statement about the new graphic novel. “The characters and the fans deserve nothing less, and that's what I will deliver. Always. I love this world and the magic it holds, and I am so excited to share this next chapter with new and old fans alike.”

“Working on this project has been surreal!” added artist Valeria Perl. “I would have never expected to be given an opportunity such as this, and I’m very grateful for it. The team has made me feel very welcomed and appreciated.”

Fate: The Winx Saga Vol. 2: The Shadow War will be released in stores July 22.
