Teen Titans to return in 2026 as part of DC: Next Level, teases DC Comics

When there's trouble, DC Comics know who to call, with a surprising addition to the DC: Next Level line up in its latest announcement: the Teen Titans, absent from comic book stands since 2022

There’s a surprising piece of information hidden in DC’s announcement of the first three books in its 2026 DC: Next Level titles — and it’s good news for fans of one of the company’s oldest super-teams. The Teen Titans look set to be making a comeback at some point in the next year.

Mentioned at the end of the announcement, DC’s official PR explains that DC: Next Level is “a new publishing initiative spotlighting characters like Batwoman, Deathstroke, The Demon, Firestorm, Lobo, Barbara Gordon, Zatanna, the Teen Titans, and more.” What’s interesting about this lineup is that Teen Titans are a new addition to the list announced at NYCC 2025.

DC hasn’t had an ongoing Teen Titans comic book since the May 2022 final issue of Teen Titans Academy, a school-set expansion of the core concept; the last issue of a Teen Titans series proper would be November 2020’s Teen Titans #47, concluding the ‘DC Rebirth’ era of the team. This isn’t to say that the company had entirely abandoned the franchise; Titans — featuring the adult incarnations of the New Teen Titans team — has been an ongoing series since the 2022 Dawn of DC relaunch, and a World’s Finest: Teen Titans miniseries ran from July through December 2023.

It should perhaps be noted that, assuming the mention of the group in the Next Level announcement means that fans should expect a new Teen Titans comic book title, it’ll be the second teen superhero team getting a new series as part of DC: Next Level — Joshua Williamson was teased as writing a new Legion of Super-Heroes comic book series as part of the Next Level line-up at NYCC 2025. Maybe 2025 is the year of teen hero revival at DC. (What’s next, a Gen 13 reboot?)

No creative team — or, even, officially a Teen Titans comic book series — has been announced by DC for the Next Level initiative, but for anyone wondering why the time is now right for a relaunch of the team, it’s perhaps worth remembering that a Teen Titans movie is rumored to be in the works from DC Studios.
