Marvel and DC’s biggest heroes get a rematch in March 2026's Superman/Spider-Man crossover - and it’s all about their secret lives as journalists

Superman/Spider-Man #1 sees DC & Marvel's greatest journalists (who also happen to be superheroes) teaming up to uncover a grand conspiracy

2026 marks the half-century mark since two paragons of Marvel and DC Comics first crossed paths in 1976's legendary Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man. Since then, the characters have met a handful of times, usually to confront some multiverse-level baddie that threatens their respective realities. And now, Popverse is thrilled to report that ol' Clark Kent and Peter Parker will be teaming up once again in next March's Superman/Spider-Man #1, an epic tale that will focus on... well, the characters' respective dayjobs, surprisingly.

Let's back up here a bit. Even if you were only on the peripheries of comic book fandom this year, you probably heard about Batman and Deadpool spending part of 2025 together, in Marvel's Deadpool/Batman and DC's Batman/Deadpool, respectively. Now, we've got details on the next major step that the House of Ideas and their Distinguished Competition are taking together, staring with the comic's plot.

"When journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker find themselves chasing the same story," reads the official synopsis of the DC Comics-produced crossover, "the conspiracy they uncover could change the world — especially if Brainiac and Doctor Octopus have anything to say about it. (And we bet they do!) Good thing our intrepid newshounds are secretly Superman and the amazing Spider-Man."

Maybe it's just because of what I do, but you gotta love a story that's an ode to journalism.

That's not all we've got on the Super-Spidey special issue, though, dear reader. Fans of DC's World's Finest and the current Batman run will be thrilled to learn that the team of Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez will be steering this universe-spaning vessel, and that they're bringing a host of elite comics talent along with them. See, just like in the Batman/Deadpool comics, this giant-sized mag will feature backup stories that go down between more of the publishers' respective breadwinners, a list of which can be found below:

  • Lois Lane/Mary Jane Watson by Tom King and Jim Lee
  • Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes/Spider-Man 2099 by Sean Murphy
  • Power Girl/Punisher by Gail Simone and Belén Ortega
  • Jimmy Olsen/Carnage (no, really) by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber
  • Superboy-Prime and Symbiote-suit Spider-Man by Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere
  • Daily Planet/Daily Bugle by Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott

Before you ask - no, we don't know the particulars of what a Daily Planet/Daily Bugle crossover will be like, but we can say that if there's not a scene of J. Jonah Jameson yelling at Jimmy Olsen for better photographs, then we're going to get upset.

All of this generation-defining greatness will be available when DC Comics' Superman/Spider-Man #1 comes to comic shops March 25, 2026. I know, I know, that's a long way away, so why don't you check out the issue's Jiménez-drawn cover and the first batch of the issue's variant covers (by Jim Lee, Daniel Sampere and Tomeu Morey, Dave Johnson, David Nakayama, Gabriele Dell’Otto, Mikel Janín, Raphael Albuquerque, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, David Talaski, and Clayton Crain, respectively) below?

Again, Superman/Spider-Man will be available at your local comic book store March 25, 2026 - why not pre-order now? And don't worry - you won't have to wait another half-century for a title like this one to happen again, because Marvel Comics is producing its own Spider-Man/Superman #1 for release in April 2026. Details on that one will be released in the coming months.
