DC brings Supergirl & Lobo together in comics just in time for DC Studios' Supergirl movie

Two days before Supergirl & Lobo meet in movie theaters, they're meeting (again) in a new comic.

Ahead of DC Studios' Supergirl movie debuting June 26 in movie theaters, DC Comics has announced a surprise special coming out that same week hitting close to home for those excited about the Supergirl and Lobo team-up.

The June 24 one-shot Summer of Supergirl #1 will see Lobo landing square in the quiet US Midwest town of Midvale, the adopted hometown of Supergirl. That brings out Midvale's resident welcome wagon for any and all intergalactic bounty hunters to enter its city limits: Supergirl. This story is by Supergirl series writer Sophie Campbell, with Wonder Woman artist Belén Ortega stepping in to draw.

Of course, Campbell and Ortega's Summer of Supergirl Special story is one of three stories in this surprise anthology, with the teams of Mark Waid/Cian Tormey and Gail Simone/Emma Kubert swooping in with their own stories, which DC says will act in their own way to celebrate Supergirl "as she resumes her rightful place as the Heir to El."

Summer of Supergirl Special #1 will come with a main cover by Ortega, along with variants by Tula Lotay, Pablo Villalobos, and Mahmud Asrar. Check those out here:
