Marvel Comics confirms Miles Morales is at the heart of Ultimate Universe sequel Reborn

The fallout from Ultimate Endgame and the end of the Ultimate Universe officially begins this May

As we’d previously speculated, today’s release of Miles Morales: Spider-Man #42 is a lead-in to the May launch of a brand new Marvel Comics miniseries intended on extending the legacy of the best-selling Ultimate Universe into the publisher’s mainstream continuity.

Following a tease earlier this week, Marvel Comics has announced Reborn: Ultimate Impact — a five-issue miniseries by Chris Condon (Ultimate Wolverine) and Stefano Caselli (Ultimate Black Panther) that explores the impact the Ultimate Universe’s Origin Boxes will have on the mainstream Marvel Universe after Miles retrieved them during 2025’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion miniseries.

“I am so excited to be a part of this book and to be working with this fantastic team,” Condon said in a statement from the publisher. “To be able to play with the idea of these universes colliding in a truly unique and interesting way like this, and to have the opportunity to create new and lasting creations within them - both characters and settings - is a dream for any creator in this industry. I'm having so much fun working on this book with artist Stefano Caselli and editor Tom Groneman. I hope that shines through when readers pick up their copies of what I think will be an exciting new piece of the Marvel Universe."

Marvel’s official description of the series runs, “Miles Morales returned from the Ultimate Universe with a plan: safeguard the Origin Boxes – catalysts for the creation of new super heroes – before they fall into the wrong hands! But the secret is out as Miles’ battle over the boxes engulfs the entire Marvel Universe! Witness the creation of stunning and unforgettable new characters on both sides of a conflict that will shape the future of the 616!”

In its official announcement of the series, Marvel also let slip an interesting fact: fans of the Ultimate Universe won’t have to wait until May to see the Origin Boxes in action in the Marvel Universe. They’ll apparently be part of the February-launching Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon series, as well.

Reborn: Ultimate Impact #1 will be released May 20.
