Predator: Badlands is getting a Marvel Comics prequel... that's coming out after the movie itself

The Predator: Badlands prequel will take the form of a one-shot comic by Ethan Sacks and Elvin Chang, and will go on sale in November

Somebody call Fede Álvarez.

OK, so technically Fede Álvarez just collects comics in the Alien franchise, but we still think that he (and you, sci-fi horror fan) will be thrilled to learn of a brand new Predator comic on its way to Marvel Comics. And we're not just talking about a Predator story you don't know yet - come this fall, Marvel will be putting out an official prequel to the upcoming Predator: Badlands, with a foreword by the film's director, Dan Trachtenberg himself.

Marvel made the announcement in a press release in which we learned that the prequel would take the form of a one-shot comic from Star Wars comic scribe Ethan Sacks and artist Elvin Chang, a newcomer to Marvel Comics storytelling.

"For a writer who grew up a lifelong fan of the Predator franchise," said Sacks in a statement, "There is no bigger game than the chance to hunt with the Yautja [...] Working hand in hand with the filmmakers behind Predator: Badlands, we made sure this prequel story fits into the cinematic saga like a puzzle piece. It's going to give fans a deeper, richer experience – especially when they get to feast their eyes on Elvin Ching's art."

Plot details for the upcoming one-shot are pretty scant at the moment, save that it appears to be about Badlands' main character, a young Yautja called Dek. Dek apparently will go on a hunt for something contained within a crashed alien spaceship, but it's unclear what kind of threat he will face when he reaches.

Who knows? Maybe this will turn out to be a comic with a xenomorph in it after all. Somebody let Fede know.

Predator: Badlands comes to theaters November 7. Marvel's Badlands prequel comic hits shelves November 12.
