Phantom Busters release schedule: When new chapters of the hit manga are released in Japanese and English

The English release is significantly behind the Japanese Phantom Busters manga, but it is slowly catching up.

One of the popular new manga coming out on the Shonen Jump app and on the Viz Media website is Phantom Busters, which follows a group of young people focused on fighting ghosts while also trying to be normal high school students. However, the Phantom Busters release schedule, at least in English, is a little difficult to follow. If you’re already caught up with the Phantom Buster chapters you can read online and are looking for more, here is what we know about the manga’s release schedule.

How often do Phantom Busters chapters come out?

Like many manga, Phantom Busters follows a monthly release schedule. New chapters are released in Jump Square magazine. Though the exact release date for each chapter changes, this is typically in the first week of the month before the magazine is dated. For example, Phantom Busters Chapter 30 came out in the May 2026 issue of Jump Square, which was sold in Japan starting on April 3, 2026.

When is Phantom Busters 31 coming out?

The most recent chapter of Phantom Busters was 30, which came out on April 3, 2026 in Japan. Aside from a short break in early 2026, most months see a new chapter of Phantom Busters come out, so we suspect that more will arrive in Japan regularly for the rest of the year. However, if that changes, we’ll be sure to update our Phantom Busters release schedule here.

Upcoming Phantom Busters chapters will likely have the following release dates:

  • May 2026: Chapter 31
  • June 2026: Chapter 32
  • July 2026: Chapter 33

What is Phantom Busters about?

Promises made to kids can have a surprisingly deep impact on them. For Eugene Korekishi, his grandmother’s failure to visit him as a spirit following her death had him convinced that ghosts didn’t exist at all. This belief was born entirely out of his disappointment that his grandmother didn’t come visit him after she died. However, the plot of Phantom Busters shows how wrong he is. Early in the series, Eugene meets Mogari Shishikuno, who is a regular high school student with the unusual after-school job of exorcising spirits.

Despite not initially believing in ghosts, Eugene is so impressed by Mogari’s enthusiasm (and ability to eat ghosts) that he agrees to join the Phantom Busters Club at high school. From there, he is exposed to more and more supernatural threats.

When is the Phantom Busters English release date?

The Phantom Busters series is very popular in Japan, but it is still slowly making its way into the West. This is mainly because there aren’t many officially released chapters of Phantom Busters in English. So far, only the first three volumes of the series have been released in English. Phantom Busters Volume 4 goes on sale on July 7, 2026 and Volume 5 will be released on October 13, 2026. For comparison, Phantom Busters Volume 7 was released on February 4, 2026 in Japanese.

Where can I read Phantom Busters?

There is the aforementioned physical release of Phantom Busters, which is slowly catching up with the Japanese release. If you’re hoping to read the series digitally, you have a few options. You can purchase each volume digitally and read it that way. Otherwise, the series is being released on the Shonen Jump app, allowing you to read new chapters as part of their subscription service. However, it is even further behind the official release.

Only the first two volumes have been released on that app, which takes the story up through Chapter 8. Phantom Busters Chapter 9 gets an English release digitally on April 21, 2026.

Will there be a Phantom Busters anime?

The Phantom Busters manga has sold remarkably well, so it feels like a matter of time before it gets an anime adaptation. Despite rumors about a Phantom Busters anime, there hasn’t been any official word on the series going into production. Still, we’re hoping it will happen soon.
