Todd McFarlane's Medieval Spawn Kickstarter raises $1.5M in four days
According to one backer, the project reached its $100K goal “in probably about a minute, maybe two”

Don’t ever say that Todd McFarlane can’t sell an action figure.
Last week, Todd McFarlane launched a Kickstarter for the Original Medieval Spawn Action Figure & Comic a remastered version of products originally released in 1995. As of this writing, just four days after the campaign went live, the action figure has raised a staggering total of over $1.5M dollars in backer money - 15 times its already ambitious goal of $100K.
The campaign hit Kickstarter, appropriately, like a bat out of hell on August 22. Watching the campaign as it launched was ToyArk contributor Tony Bacala who posted an update to the figure site saying “as I was reviewing the live page, and prepping to back it, the project funded in probably about a minute, maybe two.” By Bacala’s third update, the campaign had reached a million dollars.
And to be fair, Spawn fans have every reason to get behind this project. Medieval Spawn stands at 7 inches tall and features 32 points of articulation, and up to 14 accessories, plus (of course) a comic. Backers can choose from three variants of the figure (Classic Blue, Black Edition, or Artist’s Prototype), pay an extra chunk to have the figure autographed, or even back at the highest level - a choice that will get them all three figures, the comic, and McFarlane’s signature for $350.
A steep price, perhaps, but they don’t call him King Spawn for nothing.
You can back the Remastered Medieval Spawn Action Figure on Kickstarter now. But don’t wait too long to grab your copy - the campaign closes September 19.
