It’s not a Marvel Comics event if it doesn’t have roots in multiple different pieces of Marvel lore, and Armageddon — the teased summer 2026 event that promises big changes across the entire Marvel Comics Universe the likes of which haven’t been seen in decades — is already fitting into that proud tradition. The initial announcement of the event referenced both the current Captain America comic book series and events coming from the just-completed Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion miniseries… but the first Armageddon-branded title will come from the X-Men side of the Marvel Universe, it’s been revealed.
February 2026 will see the launch of the four-part Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon, written by Armageddon architect Chip Zdarsky with art from Luca Maresca (artist of the recent Superior Avengers) — and it’ll tie in with longstanding Captain America and Daredevil history, as well.

Per Marvel, the new series will reveal that the Weapon X program that created Wolverine is alive and well, albeit in a new form — a corporation called Primewarrior, that has a familiar face working for it: former Daredevil villain (and graduate of the same super-soldier program that led to both Captain America and later all of Weapon X), Nuke. Given that Nuke isn’t exactly the greatest advertisement for super soldiers — as anyone who’s read the classic Daredevil storyline ‘Born Again’ is all too aware — this isn’t the kind of thing that will bode well.
We can't be the only people who've noticed a strange running theme with what we know about Armageddon so far, right? It's been linked to Zdarsky's Captain America - which launched with a story about America's super soldier program creating a Cap we didn't know about in the earliest part of the 21st century, followed by a story including superheroes created by government programs - and Ultimate Spider-Man: Incursion, which ended with the Origin Boxes, technology literally created with the intent of transforming regular people into superhumans, entering into the Marvel Universe. Now, this new Wolverine series reactivates the Weapon X program in a new form...?
Marvel has teased Armageddon by saying that it will "impact the entire Marvel Universe, changing the face of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in a way not seen since Avengers: Disassembled, the event that redefined the team for the 21st century." Could it actually be a story about a super human arms race that will literally change the power dynamic of the fictional universe courtesy of all-new super powered beings popping up everywhere?
“The Road to Armageddon starts with super soldiers, starts with the Weapon X program,” Zdarsky said in a statement from the publisher. “And Wolverine is going to kick off the end of everything. For readers of Captain America, this is essential! For readers who want to know where the Marvel Universe is going, same. I’m pretty thrilled to get to tell this massive story, starting in Cap and really kicking it off here in Wolverine: Weapons of Armageddon!”
The four part series will launch February 18, 2026.
