Marvel Comics' new milk-based superhero the Blue Bounder is one of but many legend-diary milk moments for the company

Marvel has partnered with the Dairy Farmers of America to create a new milk-based superhero. But he's not the first.

Earlier this week, Marvel Comics debuted an all-new hero... powered by milk.

The Blue Bounder debuted in his eponymous comic book from Marvel, paid for as part of a larger campaign between Dairy Farmers of America and Marvel's parent company, Disney. In the 11-page digital comic, a fastidious high schooler named Wyatt - who is an avid milk drinker - gets exposed to some cosmic rays after something crashlands on earth while he's drinking milk. Something in that ties his superpowers to milk, giving him the ability to "'super power' the nutrients [of milk] more efficiently, giving me increased strength, flexibility and durability."

Kids, don't try this at home.

Adults, also don't try this at home.

Marvel's history with milk farmers goes back decades, but this new partnership includes not only a comic but also limited edition white milk gallon jugs featuring the Avengers and a TruMoo 1% chocolate milk featuring Spider-Man. You can read the comic at MarvelMilk.com. For the actual milk, go to your local grocery store!

You know me, I always love a new Marvel character being introduced. But this introduction of a Milk-sponsored hero brings to mind a long history Marvel has with milk.

In 1999, Marvel Comics took part in the 'Got Milk?' campaign with a series of full-page ads in comics and even trading cards depicting heroes like Spider-Man and She-Hulk, villains like Doctor Doom and Venom, and even lesser-known entities like the almost-forgotten A Next team. But even better yet, they filmed a commercial - with a full cast of Avengers.

Take a look at Marvel Comics' 1999 'Got Milk?' commercial:

And yes, in this commercial Marvel also created a new superhero: the Milkman. Funnily enough, we haven't seen them since. I'd say we should put his face on a milk carton, but I would never churn out that sort of joke.

Marvel's proclivity for milk goes back even further, as back in 1990 they introduced a superhero named Milk - as part of a dynamic (and comedic) duo named Milk & Cookies. They too, haven't been seen in years.

Now with the Blue Bounder on the scene and other milk heroes like the Milkman and Milk & Cookies hidden way back in Marvel's fridge, maybe there could be a team up? If they need help, there's always Captain Citrus - a orange-themed hero created a decade ago by Marvel for the Florida Department of Citrus. Someone, somewhere, let Kevin Feige know there's a whole new menu waiting to be introduced to the MCU.
