There’s been something missing from DC’s comic book line-up since before 2022’s Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths… but that’s going to change very, very soon. Announced during the Absolute Power panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, the creative team behind DC’s big summer comic book event — Mark Waid and Dan Mora — will be bringing back the world’s greatest superhero team… the Justice League. And this time, they’re going to be Unlimited.
The absence of the Justice League has been noted inside DC’s own comic books during the 'Dawn of DC' era — the Titans were created as the next generation of superhero team while Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman purposefully took a break from teaming up after, you know, the entire Justice League dying and coming back to life during Dark Crisis, and certain people inside Absolute Power might have some feelings about whether or not Amanda Waller’s plan might have worked had the League was still around — perhaps even Waller herself, in that her Amazo army purposefully recreates the classic League. So… what happens when the League returns?
We've known that a new Justice League was on the way since it was mentioned in the announcement video for DC All In earlier this month, but what was missing from that announcement was news of a new series, or who was working on it. Now we know!
Justice League Unlimited, notably, takes its title from the fan-favorite 2004 animated series from Cartoon Network that saw the team expand to include almost any given superhero inside the DCU. 2024 is the 20th anniversary of their debut which makes this extra fitting.
Justice League Unlimited #1 will launch this fall.
