DC's Swamp Thing is coming to James Tynion IV's creator-owned series Something is Killing the Children for Adults-only crossover
The DC Black Label/BOOM! one-shot will crossover Swamp Thing with Something is Killing the Children, with the original creators of SIKTC behind the wheel

Popverse's top stories
- DC K.O. to feature guest stars from Mortal Kombat, The Conjuring, The Boys, and more in 2026
- TMNT has created new pizza toppings - lands in Magic: The Gathering
- DC to finally let Swamp Thing meet Jesus Christ in new four-part restoration of a cancelled controversial 1989 storyline
Turns out, the return of The Nice House by the Sea isn’t James Tynion IV’s only current work for DC Comics’ mature readers imprints — and his other contribution features both the return of a fan-favorite character and a crossover with one of his own acclaimed creator-owned properties. Announced today at New York Comic Con 2025, 2026 will reveal Swamp Thing is Killing the Children.
Yes, it’s a Swamp Thing comic that’s also a Something is Killing the Children comic, with the creators of that latter title — Tynion and artist Werther Dell’Edera — bringing DC’s iconic muck monster into the Slaughterverse for a one-off horror story.
BOOM! Studios announced the title during its BOOM! Studios - 20 Years, Here’s to the Future! Panel, although details of the project beyond its (admittedly amazing) title and creative team are purposefully remaining under wraps for now. The release date for the project has not been set.
In a statement, BOOM! VP of consumer sales and marketing Josh Hayes said, “It’s such an incredible thing to see Erica Slaughter next to Swamp Thing. Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson are synonymous with comics I grew up on, and absolute masters of their craft. To have modern masters like James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera telling a tale like this is something – I mean Swamp Thing — that I can’t wait to read!”
Chris Conroy, executive editor of DC Black Label, added, ““I’ll admit the sheer brilliance of the title alone was reason enough to get excited about this, but James and Werther have gone deep and created a story that’s just as ambitious as any of the other classics in the Swamp Thing library. I think fans of both the SlaughterVerse and of the darker side of DC comics are going to be shocked and delighted when they see what we’ve been up to!”
It really is an amazing title, isn’t it?
More details about Swamp Thing is Killing the Children will be revealed in coming months.
