Image Comics and Tiny Onion's Exquisite Corpses is built with the future (and the past) in mind, teases co-creator James Tynion IV
The first 13 issues of James Tynion IV and Michael Walsh's new Image Comics series is just the beginning of what is already ready to become a far, far bigger story (that can expand beyond comics)

We’ve already shared the high concept of Tiny Onion’s new Image Comics series Exquisite Corpses — it’s a story set in a small town that unexpectedly becomes home to a contest between serial killers (each representing a wealthy benefactor) to fight for supremacy… and, in the process, decide who rules the world for the next few years. It’s a heady mix and one that, as the name suggests, will be passed between different writers and artists after creators James Tynion and Michael Walsh start things off. But there’s even more to the series than that.
There’s the prospect of expanding the story beyond the timeframe — and the small town — of the original series.
“I do think that this is the sort of project where I could very easily imagine an Exquisite Corpses 1985, or even going further back,” Tynion teased during an appearance at Emerald City Comic Con 2025. “There's so much that we can play with here in this history, and then beyond that — we're introducing all of these incredible killers. And with the success of this, I could also imagine taking an amazing character like a Rascal Randy or a Fox Mass Killer, and then let's tell their story. How did they end up in this game? And that's sort of how we sort of see the ability to expand this over many years.”
And then, knowing full well what he was teasing, he added, “James: And hypothetically, if we were to be building a game and then you introduce an entire new set of killers, then that's an entire new set of cards.”
It’s almost as if there's a large plan in place for Exquisite Corpses, isn’t it?
Exquisite Corpses #1 will be released May 14.
