You may or may not be aware that more kids are reading graphic novels than ever before. And stories that appeal to sensibilities beyond Dog Man and Big Nate are sorely needed. Enter, Disney Adventure Journals, a new line of middle-grade graphic novels published by Papercutz, the kids' lit imprint of Mad Cave Studios.
The Disney Adventure Journals graphic novels will follow four different Disney heroines "as they navigate heartwarming, high-stakes adventures about courage, creativity, and self-discovery," according to the publisher. Starring leads like Mulan, Ariel (from The Little Mermaid), Tiana (from The Princess and The Frog), and Anna (from Frozen), the graphic novels will be written by Rhona Cleary and drawn by a "host of international artists," including Agnese Innocente and Ilaria Urbinati (Mulan and Anna), Valentina Brancati, Andrea Greppi, and Marco Leoni (The Little Mermaid), and Francesca Risoldi, Mateen Razzak, and Laura Guglielmo (Tiana). The books will be published in early 2026, with the complete list of Disney Adventure Journal books and their publication dates looking just like this:
Of course, when I write, "looking just like this," perhaps it'd be helpful if you had something to look at. Here are the covers for each of the books:
