Vixen's throwing a ‘Ladies Night' inside DC Comics, and every Black heroine and villain at DC is invited thanks to Stephanie Williams
Writer Stephanie Williams promises her new Vixen title will bring in numerous other Black heroes along with characters like Animal Man and Swamp Thing

Writer Stephanie Williams and artist Khary Randolph are poised to launch DC's first-ever ongoing for Vixen, one of the publisher's first Black superheroines, and Williams is already planning some big crossovers with other DC heroes, and even a special 'Ladies Night' issue that will bring together a whole host of Black heroines and villains for what promises to be a big blowout.

"This is like the third arc for Vixen, maybe I might be able to squeeze it into the second, but there is an issue that I will name 'Ladies Night' for very obvious reasons," Williams says in an interview with The Comics Pals. "I'm going to try to pack in as many Black superheroines and villains as I possibly can in that. So let's see. Let's hope I can get there."
The guest stars won't be limited to 'Ladies Night,' as Williams promises she's bringing in other characters tied to the Red, DC's mystical web of life that connects all living beings and provides some heroes with animal-based powers their abilities, and even a presence from the Green, the equivalent web of life tied to plants and non-animal life.
"Oh yes, absolutely yes. Animal Man is gonna show up. B'Wana Beast. Swamp Thing. I mean, I know that's the Green, but don't worry. The Red will be, yeah. Yeah," she assures. "Also adding Anansi into the mix and again taking a page out of Dwayne McDuffie's book and also G. Willow Wilson where Anansi was essentially testing Vix and like, 'Hey the power's been in you this entire time. You don't need that totem.' So I want to pick up on those threads. But there is some very cool stuff with the Red that I would like to tap into."
Williams has also been planning a crossover with writer Cody Ziglar and artist Diego Orlogegui's upcoming Static title as well as writer Morgan Hampton's upcoming Steel series, both of which were announced at Comic-Con International 2026 alongside Vixen, and which all star some of DC's most prominent Black heroes.
"Cody Ziglar and I, Morgan Hampton, we got a group chat going on. So, there will be some potential crossovers happening for this. Like, we've been talking for a while, like months about this. So, you know, if given the chance, good things are on the way."
Vixen #1 does not yet have an announced release date.
