DC's 2027 Darkseid Saga event finale will bring in all past DC events from Death Metal to Crisis on Infinite Earths
Scott Snyder says the conclusion of his epic Darkseid Saga will bring in elements from past DC Universe stories like Death Metal and Crisis on Infinite Earths

Scott Snyder may be one of the most consequential creators the DC Universe has ever had. He’s written classic Batman stories like The Court of Owls and The Black Mirror, but that was just the warmup. Snyder is spearheading DC’s Absolute Universe, and breaking sales records with its flagship title Absolute Batman. He’s also working with Joshua Williamson on an epic Darkseid Saga.
The middle act, DC K.O., ended with an epic fight between Superman and Darkseid. According to Snyder, that’s nothing compared to the third act, which will be published sometime in 2027. “This time around when I came back it was like, let’s make this kind of big story tree,” Scott Snyder says during a panel at MegaCon 2026. “Let’s make a story that’s about everything we’re feeling right now. What the Darkseid Saga is about from All In through K.O. to the third part, which will come in 2027, is Darkseid really says these things shouldn’t exist anymore. Superheroes and comics. They’re tired and old.”
“The third part, which is coming, is this big finale where four quadrant sort of massive thing brings in every kind of story in history. Everything. We’ve been planning that for a really long time.”
“There are so many good things coming that you guys don’t even know about yet, both with the third part of this story, which is going to be epic, and bring it all in. If you thought of a favorite character from the past from Metal or from everything, that stuff is coming back. Everything from Crisis on Infinite Earths all the way back.”
Big things are ahead for DC, and if Snyder sticks the landing, the Darkseid Saga could become one of those classic DC Universe stories people keep calling back to, much like the original Crisis on Infinite Earths.
