Gotham City has a new Mayor, and it’s longtime Batman villain Poison Ivy

Sure, she tried to destroy Gotham a couple dozen times over the years, but you can't argue with Poison Ivy when it comes her environmental record

We’ve always had a big soft spot in our hearts for Batman villain Poison Ivy. Sure, she’s murdered countless people and held Gotham City hostage, but her record on environmental concerns is absolutely spotless. Maybe that is why the people of Gotham are choosing to look past her previous transgressions to vote Green in 2026. That’s right, Pamela Isley, aka Poison Ivy, will be the new mayor of Gotham City in the mainstream DCU as of March 2026.

When Poison Ivy #42 hits shelves in March 2026, it will usher in a new era not just for Gotham City’s political sphere but also for one of Batman’s most iconic villains. Poison Ivy has always been bad, but she has been one of the most relatable of the Dark Knight’s adversaries. After all, her only real crime is being an eco-terrorist. But in a story written by G. Willow Wilson and drawn by Marcio Takara, Poison Ivy will shake up Gotham like she never has before by becoming the new mayor. Instead of fighting those in power, she will be the system she’s always fought against.

DC Comics describes the new arc in Poison Ivy like this: “It’s the beginning of a brave new era of Poison Ivy as Pamela Isley ascends to the role of mayor of Gotham City. But what is her vision for Gotham’s future, and how far will she go to protect it?! Let’s just say things are going to get pretty bloody!”

How does Poison Ivy cope with being bound by bureaucracy instead of being able to just unleash wave after wave of deadly plants whenever she has a problem? How does Batman take to her new political agenda? What is her tax policy? We’ll find out when Poison Ivy #42 comes out on March 4, 2026.
