Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder confirms plans for an Absolute DC Comics superhero team book

If you've been holding out hope for a superhero team in DC's Absolute Universe, Scott Snyder has good news for you

The mainline DC Universe has been ground zero for the formation of so many iconic superhero teams over the years. I mean, the Justice Society of America became the very first superhero team in comic book history when they debuted in 1940. Then, later on with teams like the Teen Titans, the Legion of Superheroes, Birds of Prey, the Suicide Squad, the Outsiders, the Authority, and of course, the Justice League, the DC Universe proved itself to be ripe with opportunities for heroes (and villains!) to get together.

Now, with the success of DC's Absolute Universe, a separate continuity from its mainline universe, some fans have been hoping for a team within this self-contained world. In an AMA session on League of Comic Geeks, Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder answered a fan's question about whether or not "there will be new heroes (as in new characters) in the Absolute Universe" as well as if there will "be a team book." Snyder's succinctly responded with, "Without spoiling anything for the books, YES!"

So there you have it: there will be a team book coming from DC's Absolute Universe sometime in the future. While a Justice League would be the most obvious option, there are plenty of other lesser-known teams that could use a new interpretation in the Absolute Universe. I'm thinking groups like the Elite, the Authority, Secret Six, Doom Patrol, Infinity Inc., the Dingbats of Danger Street, the sky is the limit!

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what's to come for the Absolute Universe.
