DC isn't planning an Absolute event just yet, says Absolute Flash writer - but more crossovers are coming

Jeff Lemire, the writer of Absolute Flash, confirmed that Wally West will team up with another Absolute DC hero in the future

DC Comics fans are eating well right now. Between the upcoming slate of books as part of the Next Level publishing initiative, to the successes of the Absolute Universe, to the DC K.O. event that kicks off later this year, there is plenty to celebrate about where DC Comics is right now.

Since the Absolute Universe has been underway for the past year, fans are looking forward to seeing the characters interact with each other like they do in the mainline DC Universe. And while October's Absolute Evil #1 by Al Ewing and Giuseppe Camuncoli featured the villains of the Absolute Universe teaming up, we still have yet to see a proper Predator handshake moment between the heroes of books like Absolute Flash, Absolute Green Lantern, and more. But! We don't have to wait much longer, because Absolute Flash writer Jeff Lemire has given us a promising update in an AMA thread on League of Comic Geeks

Lemire wrote, "Wally will be meeting one of the Absolute heroes in his 3rd arc.” And, answering a fan's question about whether or not Absolute Wally West will be crossing over with any other Absolute heroes, Lemire stated, “Yes. Working on that now with one of the other writers!”

Personally, I think Absolute Batman could really use a buddy like Absolute Flash right now, considering the nightmare that Absolute Bruce is living through. But, I'm more than happy for Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman to team up any day.

Even though some of the Absolute characters have been teased in current DCU event DC K.O., Lemire demurred when asked about the possibility of an Absolute DC event to follow up on Absolute Evil. "Believe it or not we do not have an Absolute Event planned yet," he wrote, "but if/when we do I would imagine all the Absolute writers will be involved."

While it's possible that Absolute mastermind Scott Snyder has plans for an eventual event that he's not shared with the other writers just yet - he has, after all mentioned that he's planned through 2027 in terms of Absolute Batman - we should take heart in Lemire's belief that any such event will include all the Absolute writers when (or if!) it eventually happens.

Absolute Flash is available now.
