James Tynion IV's Something is Killing The Children returns as Boom! Studios continues Erica Slaughter's origin story
Tiny Onion's James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera are coming back to the Slaughterverse after the series' brief (but still too lengthy) absence in April

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen Erica Slaughter, but fans of Boom! Studios’ hit horror series Something is Killing the Children can breathe easy: the book returns this April — which might not be the best news for Erica, admittedly.
The last time anyone saw Erica was in November’s Something is Killing the Children #0, which told the story of what happened in the moments leading up to the very first issue of the series back in 2019. When the regular title returns in April, however, readers will return to the midst of Erica’s backstory as series co-creators James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera prepare for the worst, with brand new challenges facing the nascent monster hunter.
“I could not be more excited to return to tell the next chapter of Erica’s origin story,” Tynion IV said in a statement. “Earning her teeth in the field, Erica will have to grow up fast to grow up at all — and a big part of that will be learning that adults have their own fatal flaws, including her mentor Jessica. Something is Killing the Children readers know, this is not a story with a happy ending. But it’s a story that needs to be told.”
Dell’Edera added, “I know where Erica ends up, as much as we all do, and yet I can’t wait to tell this story! Get ready for some crying!”
If you want to know more about where Erica is going to end up, this is a good time to remind you that Tynion and much of his Tiny Onion crew will be at Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle, March 6-9. Get some ECCC tickets before they sell out and ask him yourself in person.
Something is Killing the Children #41 is set for release digitally and in comic book stores April 2, with covers from Dell’Edera, Jenny Fison, Miguel Mercado, Anita Citriya, and Tula Lotay. Check out the covers in the gallery below.
