Comic creators and publishers are always looking for new ways - and better ways, for that matter - to get their work in front of fans, and a new digital-savvy player in the comics industry is hoping to provide just that.
Bindings is a new app currently in development that aims in some ways to be a DeviantArt killer - providing what they describe as "a dead simple way" to share comics in a future-forward fashion that integrates with current social media platforms, as well as crowdfunding platforms like Kickstarter, and the tried-and-true methods of emailing to direct customers to a comic shop to buy it directly.
Bindings is created by Kenny Meyers, the co-founder of the digital comics reading platform Omnibus. Meyers left Omnibus earlier this year, and has launched his own company called Sweet, aiming to create a full-time business created and managing software platforms for comics creators, companies, and fans. Meyers is working with software engineer Ben Carr and UX designer Tom Carmony on Bindings, with other products in the works.
Bindings is currently going through beta-testing, with a goal for it to be open to the public later this year. You can learn more about Bindings, and sign-up to be notified when its public, at Bindings.app.
