Perhaps the biggest takeaway from Marvel Studios' short Werewolf by Night was asking just what happens next... and why the heck did classic Marvel monster Man-Thing show up there, anyway? Fans looking for answers might have to wait awhile for a response in the MCU, but now have something to keep them busy while they do: a buddy comic pairing the characters.

Announced at Marvel Comics' Next Big Thing panel here at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, the company is launching Beastly Buddies, a new comic series starring Ted (Man-Thing) and Jack (Werewolf by Night) on a team-up adventure. 

"Ted and Jack are best friends tackling the sorts of problems all modern readers can relate to: getting ousted from their ancestral castle by pitchfork-wielding villagers, unknowingly being pursued by infamous monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone, and trying to find a place for yourself in the world when one of you is a grouchy werewolf and the other is a plant-based nexus being," reads Marvel's description of Beastly Buddies. While the upcoming Werewolf by NIght comic is thoroughly R-rated and not for kids, Marvel describes Beastly Buddies as " a spooky twist in the comedic spirit of smash hits like It’s Jeff" where the two will "discover the lighter side of Marvel’s darkest corners on a quest to figure out where they fit in."

Beastly Buddies is written by Steve Foxe, with art from Armand Bodnar and KJ Diaz. The series is scheduled to debut on October 18 (just in time for Halloween!) as a digital-first comic on the Marvel Unlimited app.
