DC is bringing a rebooted Court of Owls to Absolute Batman this February

Asked by a fan at a recent Absolute Batman signing, writer Snyder tells us when the Court of Owls will be making their Absolute Universe debut, but not how

I know, I know - we're just now getting over our first proper sighting of Absolute Joker in Absolute Batman #15, released back on December 10. But already, series writer Scott Snyder is willing to reveal that yet another Gotham City nightmare will grace the bleak pages of Absolute Batman - one that has a particular relationship with the writer. You guessed it - The Court of Owls is coming to Absolute Batman.

The news comes from a TikTok posted by user 2023tylerweld. In the very brief video, the poster approaches Snyder at what appears to be a Midtown Comics signing and asks about whether the Court of Owls will factor into his overarching Absolute Batman arc.

"They might appear in issue 17," responds the writer.

In case you don't know, the Court of Owls was co-created by Scott Snyder, along with longtime Batman partner Greg Capullo, for DC's 'New 52' arc starring the Dark Knight. Since then, the secret society that hides in the shadows of Gotham has gone on to feature in the video game Gotham Knights as well as the TV show Gotham, and rumors have persisted that Matt Reeves's next Batman film will feature the Court in some capacity.

But hey, that's all out of our purview right now. At the moment, we're just focused on how Snyder and series artist Nick Dragotta are going to portray this relatively new Batman baddie. Will they be the same secret society as before? Will they somehow be connected to Absolute Scarecrow, whose storyline is supposed to start in the same issue? I guess we'll have to wait to find out.

Unless Scott feels extra generous with those teases?

Absolute Batman #17 releases February 11, 2026.
