It’s been in the works for more than three decades, but as the newly-released teaser poster puts it, “the wait is almost over.” The sequel to 1988’s Beetlejuice now has a release date - September 6, 2024 and an official title: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Written by Wednesday show runners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar — fittingly, as Jenna Ortega is one of the stars of the movie — from a story by Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter author Seth Grahame-Smith, the movie sees the return of Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara from the original movie, alongside Ortega, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe. Beyond the core cast and director Burton, there’s another member of the creative team from the original who’s returning for this second go-round: Danny Elfman, who’ll come back to score the new movie.
After a mid-2023 shoot that was interrupted by the SAG-AFTRA strike, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has been officially announced for a September 6 release, with that announcement accompanied by the first teaser image for the feature — a callback to the iconic waiting room scenes from the first film:
