Imagine Michael Jackson's Thriller, but with Batman: Rafael Grampá calls his shot with Gargoyle of Gotham

"That music video had a big impact on me at the same time that I met Batman"

It's close to midnight and something evil's lurkin' in the dark, but it's not zombies or Michael Jackson: it's new villains coming to DC's Batman franchise.

In the new comic book series Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham, writer/artist Rafael Grampá tells Popverse's Sam Stone he is looking to evoke something dramatic like the Thriller music video.

Grampá explains that at the same time he first learned about Batman, he was also learning about Michael Jackson through that 'Thriller' video. "I’m trying to deliver this in a way to the fans like Michael Jackson’s 'Thriller,' this is what I wanted," says Grampá. "I don’t want to be very dramatic about faith and stuff, I just want people to have fun. That music video had a big impact on me at the same time that I met Batman."

"Those things kind of blend in my perception of entertainment," says the author. "That’s a big example for what I’m trying to do with Gargoyle of Gotham. I’m trying to entertain people in the same way that I was entertained with Thriller."
