The world has been excited about Dragon Ball Daima ever since it was announced at New York Comic Con 2023, but it has taken on special importance since then as the first new Dragon Ball anime since series creator Akira Toriyama passed away. Considering how involved Toriyama was meant to be in the production of the show, it will be an important test for what the series’ future looks like when Dragon Ball Daima’s release date finally rolls around.
So far, Dragon Ball Daima is still slated to come out on October 11, 2024 as part of the Fall 2024 Anime season, so it won’t be long until we see Goku and the rest of the Dragon Ball gang turned into adorable kids and sent to fight some new threat to the galaxy. Like nearly every other series in the franchise, Dragon Ball Daima will stream on Crunchyroll as it airs in Japan, with an English dub following shortly after.
But that's not all! One week later, Dragon Ball Daima will debut on Netflix, making it the second series of the season to have near-simultaneous releases on the two streaming platforms. Episode one of Dragon Ball Daima will be released on Netflix on October 18, 2024, with new episodes coming out each week.
One of the most interesting aspects of this new show is how it seems to be eschewing the traditional transformations that Dragon Ball has been known for; none of the trailers for the series so far has shown Goku or any of the other characters going Super Saiyan. The lack of transformations along with the triumphant return of Kid Goku – along with his iconic Power Pole – certainly have Dragon Ball Daima looking like a return to the series’ roots. Of course, the last time Dragon Ball gave us Kid Goku was the ill-received Dragon Ball GT, so hopefully things go a bit better this time.
Dragon Ball Daima is due out on October 11, 2024 and will be streaming on Crunchyroll. The same episode will come out on Netflix a week later, on October 18, 2024.
