The American Manga Awards touts itself as "the first-ever awards programming honoring manga." The winners were announced on August 22, 2024 at the Japan Society in New York City during a ceremony hosted by Matt Alt. Presented by LeftField Media, creators and organizers of Anime NYC, the American Manga Awards honored creators in six categories.

The nominees were selected from more than 200 submissions across 29 publishers. The nominees and winners are selected by a panel of judges. They are: Translation Judges Alt and Hiroko Yoda, Lettering Judges Nate Piekos and Tom Orzechowski, Publication Design Judges Shigekazu Watanabe and Sasha E Head, Manga Judges Brigid Alverson, Shaenon K. Garrity, Lynzee Loveridge, Minovsky and Renee Scott.

In addition to the six categories listed below, the ceremony also featured the inaugural induction to the Manga Publishing Hall of Fame: Frederik L. Schodt.
